Stem Cell Therapy for Post Concussion Syndrome

Concussions can be a very dangerous trauma to the brain, especially for those who have experienced multiple concussions throughout their lives.  Athletes in contact sports, such as football, are particularly prone to problems resulting from concussions.  The post-concussion syndrome typically manifests as headaches and dizziness, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, and can last for weeks to months.  While it does typically resolve on its own, post-concussion syndrome can lead to dangerous psychological side effects

Most physicians do not know exactly what causes post-concussion syndrome.  It is believed to be a combination of structural damage to the brain and some kind of disruption of neurotransmitters.  Post-concussion syndrome symptoms can be debilitating for the person affected.  People affected typically suffer from migraines, memory and thinking problems, and depression and anxiety.  These problems can affect everyday life, and oftentimes create a huge setback for the person affected.  Prior to stem cell therapy, there have not been many forms of treatment for post-concussion syndrome.  Fortunately, stem cell therapy has shown promise in treating the condition and helping people heal quicker.

In the past, there was no real treatment for post-concussion syndrome.  Treatments were historically focused on treating the symptom, such as a headache, and not the underlying brain damage.  Fortunately, stem cells have shown great promise in helping to heal any brain damage associated with post-concussion syndrome.
